In this land with its rich architectural heritage the choice of historic buildings to visit, from the medieaval to the 18th. century, is almost overwhelming. Of the châteaux, Chambord, Chenonceaux and Cheverney are the most popular but you needn’t travel far to go back to the 12th. century Plantagenets for several historic sites can be found on our doorstep, among them a Château at Montrésor and a priory and chapel commissioned by Henry II. Nearby towns of interest include the fortified mediavael town of Loches with it’s royal château and market and Montrichard, a gem of a small town on the Cher. The historic towns of Blois, Amboise, Tours and Chinon, all with their châteaux, markets, shopping and restaurants, although slightly further away are still within easy driving distance while that of Saumur is a little further. Click on the sub-categories in the menu on the left to find out not just much more about the fabulous places to visit in the Loire Valley but also the basic shops, essential services and the numerous activities available within a short distance of La Grange des Près.
